✝️ Saint Anicetus, Pope 😇️

Thursday, 04/17/2025 - All Day
Saints Day
"Traditional Catholic Church"
Today the Traditional Catholic Church also celebrates the Feast of, Saint Anicetus, Pope, Martyr. This Holy Pope governed the Holy Church at the time when Saint Polycarp, the disciple of Saint John came to Rome to consult about the date of the celebration of Easter, on when it should be kept. The reasons offered by Saint Polycarp did not convince Saint Anicetus, nor did the argument of Anicetus move Saint Polycarp. Saint Anicetus had such respect for Saint Polycarp, who had known Saint John the Evangelist, that although disagreeing on this matter of discipline, he allowed Saint Polycarp to celebrate Mass in the presence of all the faithful in Rome. He was given the title of martyr, because of his sufferings for the Faith, although he was not put to death by his persecutors. He faithfully pasted away in the year 165, and was buried in the Vatican near the tomb of the Apostles, where all the Popes of the first two centuries were buried.
